Of Logos and (Hidden) Arrows...

Have you ever noticed that the orange arrow under the Amazon logo.

So you have? But did you notice that it goes from A to Z? Interesting isn't it, it is to show that you get everything from A to Z on Amazon. Apparently it is also supposed to signify a smile, what Amazon brings on its customer faces.

But here is the big one. Am sure you have seen the FedEx logo and remember it very well too, the blue (purple) and orange...

Now I bet that, if you did not know what I'm going to say next, the way you look at the FedEx logo will change forever. Did you ever notice that the logo has a hidden arrow!!! It is formed between the E and the X. And it is supposed to convey the message of speed and precision.

PS: This blog entry is dedicated to Nathan Creswell (and he knows why). My ulterior motive is that whenever Nathan looks at the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo, he relates this blog to that logo :).

Out of India Theory - Addendum

As an addendum, because we are talking of Indian languages. Yet another interesting piece is about Sanskrit. A Sanskrit professor once told me that the structure of the word "Ram" when written in Sanskrit takes about one page to explain based on how each letter in the word is composed. I was intrigued but it did give some indication of why people say Sanskrit can be a good computer language.

Here is a sample for the word "Om/Aum" (HT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aum).

The symbol of Aum consists of three curves, one semicircle and a dot. The lower curve denotes the waking state, the upper curve denotes deep sleep, and the right-side curve (which lies between deep sleep and the waking state) signifies the dream state. These three states of an individual’s consciousness, and therefore the entire physical phenomenon, are represented by the three curves. The dot signifies the Absolute (fourth or Turiya state of consciousness), which illuminates the other three states. The semicircle symbolizes Maya and separates the dot from the other three curves. The semicircle is open on the top, which means that the absolute is infinite and is not affected by Maya (as "illusion"). Maya only affects the manifested phenomenon. In this way the form of Aum symbolizes the infinite Brahman and the entire Universe and the world.

Out of India Theory

Out of India Theory is the hypothesis that the Indo-European languages (I-E) originated in India, from which they spread into Central and South-western Asia and Europe.
